What is the purpose of the adoption of a new Law “On Political Parties?”
Arif Hajili, the head of the “Musavat” party answers these and other questions in the “Difficult Question” Program.
The existing law does not interfere with the activities of political parties in the country. “The main reason hindering their normal activities is that the state does not comply with the laws. The existing Law “On Political Parties” was adopted in 1992 and those who remember know that at that time there was a fairly democratic atmosphere in the country and the draft of this Law undergone a wide and comprehensive discussion in society before being submitted to the parliament. It was published in the press and many parties, those organizations that were in opposition at that time, experts, lawyers expressed their opinions and proposals regarding this Law, and for almost 30 years it did not interfere with the activities of parties,” the politician noted.
According to Hajily, the main factor hindering the activities of political parties is that the current government has not created equal conditions for political competition, election fraud.
“In principle, there is nothing unusual in putting forward initiatives to change the Law “On Political Parties”. It's not forbidden, he says. Unfortunately, during the activity of the current government, the introduction of amendments to the Constitution, to the Laws has never had a positive character, as a rule, it has had a reactionary character.
The proposed supplements and amendments to the Law "On Political Parties" indicate that the goal of the authorities is not at all democratic development, facilitating the activities of political parties. On the contrary, it is about the intention to create problems for the real opposition.” According to Hajily, the probability of making changes and additions to this Law is more than high.
“Given that the Milli Majlis invariably and often unanimously supports any bills coming from the Presidential Administration, one can be sure that supplements and amendments to the Law “On Political Parties” will be adopted,” the politician believes.--0-
