Yerevan confirms the release of five captured Armenians /UPDATED/
Baku/08.09.22/Turan: On the evening of September 8, the National Security Service of Armenia announced the return of five Armenian prisoners by Azerbaijan.
They are: Martin Agramanyan (born 1996, Gyumri), Ashot Gevorgyan (born 1998, Gyumri), Felix Grigoryan (born 1996, Gyumri), Varazdat Manukyan (born 1990, Gyumri) and Edik Hovsepyan (born 1999, Vanadzor).
They were taken prisoner in Karabakh in December 2020 after the end of the Second Karabakh War and convicted by an Azerbaijani court on charges of terrorism.
“We welcome this action as a step towards the normalization of relations,” the Armenian National Security Service said in a statement. -0-

The Supreme Court released four citizens of Armenia ahead of schedule
Baku/08.09.22/Turan: On September 8, the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan commuted the punishment of four Armenians detained in December 2020 in Hadrut after the end of hostilities. Their terms of punishment were reduced to 1 year 8 months and 25 days. In connection with the expire of this period, they were released, the Supreme Court confirmed this information. The names of those released have not yet been published. According to unofficial information, these persons will be handed over to the authorities of this country in the near future.
The website of the Supreme Court published a list of 26 Armenians, whose cassation complaints were submitted on September 7. All of them were convicted on charges of terrorism. Apparently, the number of released Armenian citizens will exceed four people.
Over 60 Armenians were detained on December 13 during a special operation by the State Security Service. It was a military unit from the Armenian city of Gyumri. Subsequently, they were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. Some of them have already been released. --06B--
