Baku/12.06.23/Turan: CJSC "Azerbaijan Railways" (AR) suspends sale of paper tickets for trains on the Absheron ring railway from 1 July. The move was made to expand digital payments, eliminate queues at kiosks and ticket offices and prevent environmental damage caused by the use of paper, AR said in a statement.
Note that travel on trains on the relevant route can be done contactless with NFC-enabled bank cards or AR travel cards.
Besides, with effect from 1 July, in order to eliminate the passenger traffic observed in the economy class coaches of trains travelling on the Absheron ring railway, it will be ensured to use a business class coach as an economy class coach. In this case, payment will be made according to the tariff set for the economy class - 1 manat.
In January-March this year, 1 million 460.000 passengers were carried by the Absheron ring railway, which is up by 55% from the first quarter of 2022. -08B-
