Azerbaijan took 2nd place in the ranking of global competitiveness among the countries of the former USSR
Baku/22.01.14/Turan : Azerbaijan took the 39th place in the ranking of global competitiveness 2013-2014 (The Global Competitiveness Index 2013-2014), which is published by the analytical group of the World Economic Forum (WEF ) . Azerbaijan rose by 7 positions compared to the previous ranking of global competitiveness (GCI) 2012-2013 years , where it was 46th . In GCI 2011-2012 the country ranked 55th.
2013-2014 Global Competitiveness Ranking was topped by Switzerland, which ranked first for the fifth consecutive year. Second and third place , as in the past year , take Singapore and Finland respectively. Germany has moved up two places and is now in the 4th place .
The United States improved its rating from 7 to 5 position and remaisn a global leader in providing innovative products and services , despite some problems in the area of ??macroeconomic stability. Improving the country's position due primarily to an increase in efficiency of the financial market , as well as strengthening public confidence in state institutions.
Next in the top ten rankings : Sweden (6), Hong Kong (7), the Netherlands (8 ), Japan ( 9) and the UK (10).
Among the countries of the former Soviet Union, Azerbaijan passed forward Estonia (32nd) and was followed by Lithuania (48), Kazakhstan (50), Latvia (52), Russia (64 ), Georgia (72 ), Armenia (79 ) Ukraine (84 , a decrease of 11 positions ), Moldova (89) and Kyrgyzstan ( 121 ) .
Azerbaijan's share in the world economy is 0.12 %. High marks were given to the political and governmental stability and currency regulation. Worse things corruption.
