Azerigas company to be in charge of only gas distribution
From now on Azerigas company, which is a part of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) and was in charge of transportation and distribution of gas, will be in charge of only gas sale at the local market. This has become possible after the reforms in SOCAR.
Source from SOCAR told Caspian Barrel that according to the decree of Rovnag Abdullayev, SOCAR President, Azerigas must be in charge of only gas distribution. The Azerigas subdivisions, which were in charge of gas transportation, have been abolished and they joined SOCAR’s Gas Export Department.
Gagamali Seyfullayev, former Deputy General Director of Azerigas, has been appointed new chief of the Gas Export Department. Another ex-Deputy General Director Azerigas Nazim Samadzade has been appointed his Deputy. The former chief of Gas Export Department Kamal Abbasov has been also appointed as Deputy.
* SOCAR’s Gas Export Department is responsible for receiving natural gas from the operation companies, including gas that Azerbaijan receives from the Sangachal terminal within the framework of the Shah-Deniz and Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli contracts, sale of SOCAR’s gas at the foreign markets, execution of the agreements on purchase-sale of Azerbaijani gas and etc.
** Azerigas closed-type joint stock company was closed and it joined SOCAR as production company on July 1, 2009. By March 1, 2012 Azerigas had 1,520,000 customers. Azerigas distributes over 9 billion cub.m. of gas at the local market, of which about 5.5 billion cub.m. is supplied to Azerenerji to generate power at the thermal power stations. During 2011 technical losses in the transportation and distribution networks constituted about 8.5%.-0--
