Aztelekom General Director Arrested
The General Director of LLC Aztelekom Mamed Mamedov was arrested by the decision of the Sabail court of the capital for three months, Turan was told in the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, without naming the article charges against him.
This Office is responsible for providing various types of communication throughout the country. Note that the arrest came against a background of the November 16 collapse of the Internet connection throughout the country. It is still unclear if there is any connection between the arrest and the blocking of the Internet.
According to unofficial information, it is large scale embezzlement, abuse of office and official forgery (Articles 179.3.2, 308.2 and 313).
Recall that on November 13 the General Prosecutor's Office announced the arrest of several high-ranking representatives of the Ministry of Communications on charges of embezzlement of 95 million manats.
Among those arrested were the Director of the Baku Telephone Network Beytullah Huseynov, the Chief Engineer of Aztelekom Oktay Rustamov, the Director of Azintelekom Jalil Jafarov, the Chief of Azerpocht Gambar Beybalaev, the Director of the Association of Optical Communication Namazali Mammadov and a number of other senior officials of the communication system. -16D-

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
