FAO to Help Strengthen Phytosanitary Control

In Baku on November 16 an agreement was signed on the realization of the project "Strengthening phytosanitary inspection and diagnostic services in Azerbaijan", which will be funded by the Food and Agriculture (FAO) of the United Nations.

The document was signed by Minister of Agriculture Heydar Asadov and FAO representative in Azerbaijan Mustafa Imir.

The project consisting of three components is aimed at improving the phytosanitary control over the production of agricultural products and providing diagnostic services at customs points. For this purpose, the necessary diagnostic equipment will be supplied.

The term of the project is 2.5 years. The cost of the project is not reported.

It should be noted that in October the Ministry of Agriculture and the FAO signed another agreement to support the development of cattle breeding and artificial insemination services. -----08D
