Baku to Host International Bond Congress
The Bond Congress of CIS and Baltic States will be held in Baku on May 21-22. The event on capital markets promises to be interesting during the fall of the national currencies in the region.
The Bond Congress is organized by C Bonds News Agency and it discusses the development of domestic bond markets in Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus and other CIS countries, as well as emerging markets of Eurobonds.
The Congress is being held for the 12th time. During this time, the participants visited Russia (Sochi), Montenegro, Ukraine (Yalta, Odessa), Armenia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Latvia, and Kazakhstan. The Congress was already held in Baku in 2007. Its work is expected to involve 350 people representing investment companies, financial institutions and professional participants of the securities market.
In 2014, the market for corporate bonds market in Azerbaijan amounted to 2 174.8 million manat. The main emitters are the State Bank (CJSC Southern Gas Corridor and Mortgage Fund under the Central Bank). Interest Bonds are issued also by banks and leasing companies. Last year, the stock market listing for the first time included corporate bonds of companies producing and selling furniture. ---08B

The Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan reported that as of the first half of 2024, the country's state debt amounted to 25 billion manats, which corresponds to 21% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
