Only 2.5% of fixed broadband contracts in Azerbaijan suggest speed Internet and more than 10 megabits per second. Overall, the share of such contracts is 17% of the provider's agreement, said the report on the state of broadband, prepared by the ITU - International Telecommunication Union, the United Nations (http://www.itu.int/en/ITU-D/Statistics/Documents /facts/ICTFactsFigures2014-e.pdf).
In the Table of Ranks, the structure of Azerbaijan on the basis of 2013 added to the developing countries, taking place among them 23 (51.5%) of the share of Internet-connected households. The first takes place in the world, South Korea with 98.1% of connected households. In this case, by the number of individual Internet users, Azerbaijan is on the 63rd place in the world with 58.7%, ahead of nearest rival - Italy 0.2%. In the first place there is Iceland with 96.5%. Among developing countries, Azerbaijan is on the 24th position and in the first place is Bahrain with 90%.
According to the report, in 2017 more than 50% of the world population will be connected to the Internet via mobile broadband using smart phones and tablets. But some countries in Africa and Oceania may fall out of the process.
As noted in the welcoming speech ITU Secretary General Hamadoun Toure, broadband Internet is an important tool for socio-economic development.
"This is not a luxury for the rich, but rather, the most powerful in the history of the instrument, with which it is possible to fill the gaps in health, education, environmental management, empowerment of women," said the senior UN official. --17D-

The draft law "On Amendments to the Tax Code," adopted in its third reading, provides for tax exemptions on the sale of locally manufactured buses in Azerbaijan and the supply of spare parts for these vehicles. This was reported by the Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy, explaining that the government's initiative aims to support business development in the country by reducing the tax burden.
