Cost of Import of Duty-free Goods Increased Six Times
On October 22 the head of state issued a decree abolishing customs duties for individuals in the importation of goods into the country, costing up to 10 thousand US dollars, and for every minor up to 2 thousand US dollars. This innovation does not apply to products for industrial and commercial purposes.
Previously, the amount of duty-free import of goods was $ 1,500 for adults and $ 500 – for minors.
At the same time, the decree stated that this innovation does not apply to "excise goods, vehicles and equipment to meet the necessary needs for a trip."
Azerbaijani State Customs Committee is charged with preparing information on the location of the list of goods, import and export of which is restricted or prohibited on special announcement boards at the state border checkpoints.
In accordance with Article 190 of the Tax Code of the Azerbaijan Republic, alcohol, beer and all kinds of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, petroleum products, motor vehicles (excluding vehicles for special purposes, equipped with special signs and devices), yachts for pleasure or sports, as well as other floating transports stipulated for these purposes, are excisable goods. -- 02D-
