Fair of Beekeeping Products to Be Held in Baku
With the support of the Ministry of Agriculture on October 15 the second floor of the shopping center AMAY Baku will host a traditional exhibition-fair of apiculture products. The prices will be free, like the two previous years.
The exhibition is expected to involve about 400 beekeepers. As of October 4, there are 270 registered participants who plan to sell 100 tons of honey and other apiculture products, the Head of the Livestock Development Department of the Ministry of Agriculture Ghalib Abdulaliyev said.
This year, the productivity of bee hives in the southern and central regions of the country has decreased significantly, which is a consequence of adverse weather conditions in the spring (heavy rain) and summer (drought). Therefore, the average honey prices will not decrease this year, and in the best case they will remain at last year's level - 20 manats per 1 kg.
The exhibition will end on November 15th.
According to the State Statistical Committee, compared to 2007, the number of bee colonies in Azerbaijan in 2015 doubled and exceeded 251,000. 2,600 tons of honey was produced in 2015. This was 200 tons more than in 2014 and the highest figure since 1913. -----08B
