For 12 Months the Number of Employees Grew by 1.1%
In June of this year, the economy of Azerbaijan involved 388.6 thousand employees. During 12 months their number increased by 16 thousand persons or 1.1%, the State Statistics Committee told Turan.
Growth in the number of employees was mainly due to the private sector. When in June 2011 in the private sector worked 513.4 thousand people, in June this year the figure reached 540 thousand people.
According to the GCS in the first quarter of this year, the number of the employed population was about 4.4 million people. In other words, every two thirds of the employed population had income from self-employment and has no steady income.
