Baku/07.04.21/Turan: On April 6, representatives of the Association of International Road Carriers of Azerbaijan (ABADA) met with the customs adviser of the Russian Embassy in Baku Georgy Peschanskikh at the State Customs Committee.

The parties discussed issues related to the crossing of customs vehicles at checkpoints on the border between Azerbaijan and Russia. ABADA representatives submitted complaints about periodic queues, imposition of fines on Azerbaijani carriers on the Russian side, and detention of drivers at border checkpoints.

In the report of the SCC following the meeting of the parties, it was noted that the customs points on the Azerbaijani-Russian border play an important role in international trade and transit, and between the customs authorities of the two countries there is “fruitful cooperation for quick and easy transportation ”.

“Currently, reconstruction works are underway at the customs posts, and it is expected that the construction of another post will be completed and put into operation this year. This will speed up the process of crossing the border and transporting goods,” reports the State Customs Committee.

For his part, the adviser on customs issues of the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan Georgy Peschanskikh answered questions from representatives of transport companies about customs, transport and border processes and assured the carrier that "their fears will be studied and possible assistance will be provided."

The meeting was attended by the head of the Main Department for the Organization of the Work of Customs Checkpoints Shahin Aleskerov and the Head of the International Cooperation Department of the State Customs Committee Dilaver Farzaliev.

ABADA unites Azerbaijani individuals and legal entities that carry out international transportation by road freight transport. The association was created in May 1993. ABADA is a guarantee association for the 1975 TIR Customs Convention on the territory of Azerbaijan. --08D--
