Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan to Increase Oil Production
Azerbaijan will increase oil production, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said at the opening of the traditional 23rd International Exhibition and Conference Caspian Oil & Gas 2016.
In particular, Aliyev informed about the alleged increase in production at the country's largest oil field Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli.
Aliyev also stressed the leading role of Azerbaijan in the project of the Southern Gas Corridor. "Work has already begun for the project’s practical realization: in 2015, the foundation was laid for the TANAP project, and 2 months ago – for TAP.
All this became possible thanks to the international cooperation on our initiative. We sought to bring our oil and gas to the world market. This concerned the transit countries and consumers. The participants of the Southern Gas Corridor are seven countries and there are agreements with the Balkan countries," Aliyev said.
The implementation of this energy corridor would not have been possible if the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline had not been built. The transport corridor East-West is being laid along it. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which will be commissioned this year, is an important component of the East-West transport corridor. -16D-
