Kazakhstan president instructed to study neglected wells in Caspian sea
Kazakhstan President Nursultan Naarbayev has instructed to study environment safety of the wells watersealed in the Caspian Sea.
Baktykozha Izmuhambetov, governot of the Atyrau distruct, has brought up the issue of neglected offshore wells at today’s session of the government.
He said almost 1400 wells have been flooded in the Caspian Sea, of which 128 ones underwater. From 2004 to 2009 47 wells were repaired and oil leakage was prevented. Izmuhambetov added that the works have been suspended since 2009.
“The problem is that the wells are neglected. If we do not take measures, we could face environmental problem, which could cost us a lot of money,” said head of the region.—0—

Azerbaijani internet service providers Aztelekom and Baktelekom will introduce substantial changes to their pricing structure starting August 15, the companies announced today. Under the new tariffs, the minimum internet speed will rise to 100 Mbit/s, with the cost per Mbit/s decreasing from 0.45 AZN to 0.25 AZN. As a result, monthly charges will be set at 25 AZN for 100 Mbit/s, 30 AZN for 150 Mbit/s, and 36 AZN for 250 Mbit/s.
