Lagging Metallurgical Industry 4%
On the background of the commissioning of new metallurgical plants and increase production capacity as reported by official statistics lag the industry in the first three quarters of this year by 4%.
During the reporting period was produced 158.5 thousand tonnes of commercial fittings (wire rod), which is 7.4% less than in the comparable period of 2013. Despite the availability of production capacity in excess of 100,000 tons, the production of cast iron was only 1,017 tons, or 33.1% less than the previous year. More than halved the production of steel pipes. The country has at least three pipe companies, which from the beginning of the year produced 24,400 tons of pipes.
According to the committee, from the beginning, the production of steel products in the country was 245 000 tons. Compared to the same period in 2013 increased melting of steel by 78%. This summer, Ltd. Baku Steel Company reported increase in production capacity from 770 000 to 1.1 million tons per year. The company this year produces virtually the entire assortment of black metal-building. However, statistical reports, and their volumes, this fact does not affect.
It is noteworthy that this year, exports of ferrous metallurgy of Azerbaijan fell by 60% to 32.5 million manat. Parallel imports decreased (-22.9%) and amounted to $ 696 million, said the report of the State Customs Committee for 9 months in 2014.
In 2012-2013 in Azerbaijan by force were closed about 20 companies producing ferrous metals. However, the police did not consider the complaints of owners of these enterprises. The declining trend in exports and imports of iron and steel products indicate the formation of monopolistic tendencies in the domestic market. --08B--
