The general meeting of shareholders appointed the new Chairman of the Board of JSC «National Depository Center" (NDC), Araz Ismail oglu Aliyev.
As head of the central depository, serving nearly 99% of the issuers of the securities has been vacant since January this year, after the departure of Fariz Azizov, who was elected Chairman of the Board of JSC «BSE."
Araz Aliyev was born in 1960. Received two higher education in Baku by function financier and lawyer. From 1977 he worked in the banking system. Prior to joining the NDC, he spent four served as a member of the Supervisory Board of JSC Bank of Azerbaijan. Before that, he was a member of JSC Capital Bank. He is married and has 3 children.
NDC was founded in 1997 and serves as the registrar, depository and clearing. Serves about 1,500 issuers and more than 100,000 depositors of the Central Bank. 100% of its shares are owned by the State Committee for Securities. Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the NDC is Bakhtiyar Azizov, head of the SSC administration. --08D--

Azerbaijan significantly increased its rice imports to 52,500 tons in the first nine months of 2024, marking a 15.1% rise in physical weight and a 33.3% rise in import value compared to the same period in 2023, according to government data. The average price per ton of rice climbed by 15.8% to $1,042.17, up from $899.77 last year, further underscoring Azerbaijan’s reliance on imports to meet domestic demand, with 85% of the country’s rice needs covered through foreign sources.

The State Tax Service of Azerbaijan has called on businesses to conduct non-cash payments solely through POS terminals, requiring merchants to issue receipts from both the POS terminal and cash register for transparency, as part of efforts to curb card-to-card transactions outside regulated channels.
