Azerbaijan and Iran are increasing energy cooperation

In the next 6 months the electric transmission line Parsabad-Imishly will be completed, which will increase the capacity of the energy exchange between Azerbaijan and Iran up to 600 megawatts.

This was announced on Tuesday at a meeting in Tehran by the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and the Energy Minister of Iran Bijan Namdar Chitchian, IRNA reported.

Both sides invest in the draft. Its implementation will improve the stability of the interconnected systems of the two countries. The parties also plan to build a power plant in the border area with capacity of 1,000 megawatts.

They agreed to look into the issue at the expert level and to prepare specific proposals.

The parties also discussed the possibility of using alternative energy sources and the prospects for cooperation in this area.

Azerbaijan is ready to invest in the production of energy from alternative sources in Iran.
