
Talks between Azerbaijan and Greece have been resumed to acquire stake in the gas transmission system operator DESFA.
According to the site of the Greek Ministry of industrial reform, environmental protection and energy, on August 12 there was a meeting of the head of the department Panos Skurletis with the CEO of SOCAR Energy SA Greece Anar Mammadov. During the rendezvous was stressed positive attitude of the Greek Government in the field of energy cooperation with Azerbaijan.
Recall that in December 2013, SOCAR won a tender for the sale of 66% in DESFA for 400 million Euros. The deal is considered the European Commission's Directorate for Competition, and this procedure will last until the end of the year, if not before the end of the first quarter of 2016.
On the same day Skurletis, according to the Greek Ministry, met with the managing director of the consortium TAP AG Yen Bradshaw, Director of External Relations Project Michael Hoffman and Director of TAP for Greece Rickard Skufias.
The technical issues were examined and the sides agreed to discuss technical issues to enhance the follow-up, which allows starting design work on the TAP gas pipeline in Greece.
The TAP project’s estimated capacity is 20 billion cubic meters per year. It is calculated on the supply of natural gas from the field Shah Deniz-2 to Europe since the beginning of 2020.
Shareholders of TAP are: SOCAR, BP and Statoil - 20%, Fluxys - 19%, Enagás - 16%, Axpo - 5%. In the future, changes in the ranks of shareholders are possible. --17D-
