NEW GENERAL PLAN OF BAKU TO BE ELABORATED ON
`The plan will be worked out mainly by local experts in cooperation with foreign ones,` a local official said. The elaboration will be completed in late 2011. The WB and Azerbaijan"s government have allotted $5 million for this.
Big Baku includes the cities of Baku and Sumgayit and the Absheron district, i.e. the entire Absheron peninsula.
The first General Plan of Baku was prepared in 1896. The latest one was made in 1986. It has not been completed, because the plan made in the Soviet period stipulated its realization for the state budget"s money.
