According to Gordon Birrell, head of BP-Azerbaijan, the operator of the development of the field "Shah Deniz", 15 distribution companies have expressed willingness to buy gas in the framework of the "Stage 2". They submitted a proposal for the annual purchase of gas in a volume of 20 billion cubic meters. Nine of those companies were selected. The contract was signed for 25 years, and its implementation will begin in 2019. Birrel called the event as a big step in the successful implementation of the project "Step 2".
Gas within the second stage of development, "Shah Deniz" will be delivered to Europe by the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), starting from 2019.
