Parking in the city center is prohibited
The head of the Executive Power of Baku, Hajibala Abutalibov, signed a decree on July 25 prohibiting the parking of cars in almost all of the main streets and squares of the capital. This decision was taken yesterday, when a new underground car park, built between Fizuli and Mirzaaga Aliyev Streets came into operation.
The Chief of Police in Baku was instructed to take administrative measures against those who illegally use carriageway road for parking, and obtain illegal profits from this practice. Citizens are encouraged to use parking lots for parking.
President Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the parking lot for 4,500 cars. The head of the executive power of Baku, Hajibala Abutalibov, briefed him on the parameters of an underground car park.
The total area of the three-storey parking lot is 21 ha.; it has 5 entries and exits. Parking is available on two floors with the third being a technical floor. There is a car wash; ventilation systems, fire protection and security. The car park has about 270 surveillance cameras. Shamsi Badalbeyli Street passes over the underground parking, and this part is built on the principle of the bridge.
The parking is chargeable; 0.50 manat per hour; and a differentiated system of payment is applied; the daily parking charge does not exceed six manat. Payment is made by the special smart machines.
Nothing has been reported in connection with the management organization of underground parking; probably it is the Executive Power of Baku.
The underground parking has 14 lifts. Around the car park there are seven underpasses, 24 escalators and eight lifts-escalators for disabled people.--08D—

Azerbaijan's financial standing continues to strengthen as the country's foreign currency reserves have surged to $71 billion as of January 1, 2025, according to the Ministry of Finance. This figure, which includes reserves held by the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ) and the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), far exceeds the nation's external debt, which stands at a fraction of its reserves, specifically nearly 14 times less.
