Revenues of Baku hotels rise by 36.2%
In 2013, the number of hotels in Baku was increased by 7 objects (the total number of rooms - 451), and their number reached 129. Hotels’ revenues increased by 36.2 % in Baku, the statistics department of the State Statistics Committee told Turan.
Last year, revenues of hotels in Baku amounted to 146.8 million manat, of which 62.6 % (about 92 million manat) accounted for sales of rooms. Just Baku hotel establishments on January 1, 2014 had 6,837 rooms and single occupancy exceeded 10,500 residents.
The share of persons with local private capital accounted 85.2 % of the hotels. However, their share in the services rendered in 2013 amounted to 62.6%. Baku has 17 hotels that are wholly or partially owned by foreigners. They provided 38.5 % of the revenues in the Baku hotels last year.
According to the financial statements, the hotels have received 456,500 residents in 2014, of which 75 % are citizens of other countries. This is 25.5 % more than in the previous year and 91 % more than five years ago. This is partly due to the legalization of the hotel business.
In the past year the number of employees of hotel establishments in Baku increased by 1,000 people and made 5,300 people. Payroll for the year doubled and exceeded 38 million manat.
Prices for rooms in hotels in Baku, depending on the "stars," are from 50 manat (Comfort Inn Hotel) to 380 manat (Four Seasons Hotel Baku). -08B-

At today’s session of the Milli Majlis, Azerbaijan’s parliamentarians discussed and approved in the first reading a draft law increasing the minimum subsistence level for 2025. The updated figures reflect a modest rise of 10 manats, setting the nationwide living wage at 285 manats. For specific demographics, the levels are 305 manats for the working population, 232 manats for pensioners, and 246 manats for children. The same session also approved the criterion of need at 285 manats for the coming year, aligning it with the national living wage.
