Road maps are used by 40 bus routes
Since January 29 another 38 lines of the bus service Transgate have been applying payment cards for fares. Payment for travel by plastic cards Yolkart of the Bank of Azerbaijan JSC is now carried out in 743 buses.
A source in the Transport Ministry told Turan that the installation of validators on buses continues, and the transition to non-cash payment in public transport will be accelerated . In connection with the project of intelligent traffic management systems in the city of Baku, transition to travel cards was planned to start in February 2011. These cards can also pay the fare on the subway .
JSC Bank of Azerbaijan is the operator of the card fare collection system on buses in Baku. The bank issued for this purpose about 450 thousand plastic cards MasterCard and ordered an additional 1 million cards.
Transport cards can be purchased and filled in the branches Bank of Azerbaijan, in retail kiosks with the logo Yolkart, as well as in supermarkets, etc. at the price of 2 manat. This is payable to the bearer of the card when returning it. A passenger every time adds not less than 1 manat to the amount on the card.
In connection with the transition to the card payment system drivers will get rid of the daily routine calculations with the owners of bus routes. Henceforth, they will receive a fixed salary, which will amount to at least 500 manat per month. Cashless payment with passengers will have positive impact on the movement of vehicles whose drivers will not be obliged to fulfill the plan (up to 200 manat per day), which has often forced them even to break the traffic rules.
The bus fare in Baku is 20 gepiks and on commuter routes it is up to 50 gepiks. In total Baku has 217 bus routes operated by more than 30 companies and individuals. Daily over 2,800 buses run around the city. -08B-
