SOCAR has temporarily suspended gas supplies to Iran
From July 2, 2013 gas transportation from Azerbaijan to Iran was suspended, because of the repair works on the Hajigabul-Astara gas pipeline, SOCAR press office reported yesterday.
“Gas supply of the Astara modular power station will be also suspended during the repair works from July 3 to 4, 2013,” reads the statement.
Azerbaijan delivers gas to Iran as a part of the swap operations to supply Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) with gas since 2006. SOCAR hands over gas to the Iranian National Gas Company on the Azerbaijani-Iranian border in Astara and then receives the similar volume of gas on the Iranian-Nakhchivan border via the Khoy-Julfa pipeline. Iran imports additional 15% of the volume pumped to NAR for its services.—0--
