The development of the Azerbaijani-Estonian relations prevented by difference in investment options
The first meeting of Azerbaijani-Estonian Intergovernmental Commission was held in Baku today. On both sides the delegations in the negotiations were led by the ministers of communications - the Azerbaijani Minister of Telecommunications, Ali Abbasov, and the Estonian Minister of Economy and Communications Juhan Parts.
As the priority areas of cooperation, the parties see high-tech and innovative areas, as well as energy and agriculture.
As another potential area of ??cooperation, Parts called tourism, the level of which is now at its lowest point.
These other issues will be discussed at a joint business forum of business and government circles of the two countries on Friday.
The trade turnover as well as the state of bilateral tourism is low. Although the statistical reports read about the doubling of the trade between the countries, it only made 20 million dollars in 2011.
The development of the bilateral relations is hindered by the different investment options of the countries. If Estonia is considered one of the world leaders in the field of transparency and liberalism, on the contrary, Azerbaijan is known as a closed and authoritarian country. -0 -
