The SCS estimated that the population became less concerned about the stomach
According to the State Committee for Statistics, the ratio of retail sales of food and non-food products in Azerbaijan for the first nine months of 2013 reached a record in 1985 , when the population buys the product range of a little more food than non-food items .
According to the estimates of GCS , from January to September this year, the retailer had sold the public goods worth 13.9 billion manat, which is 9.6 % more than in the comparable period of 2012. The share of food products in the sales mix was 51.9 %, while non-food products - 48.1 %. Compared with the same period last year, the share of non-food products increased 4.1 %. Thus, SCS estimated that the population , as they say, has become less concerned about the stomach and spend their money on clothes , home accessories , luxury goods , etc.
It is noteworthy that in Azerbaijan there are no accurate records of retail sales by type of goods and the MCS is counting on its own methodology. In this procedure, a dynamic and growing volumes of retail sales. In 2003, sales of food products in the country amounted to AZN 2 bn, but last year the figure reached 9.7 billion manat. Sales of non-food products rose during the period by more than 7.5 times and amounted to 7.8 billion manat.
Independent experts say that given the rapid stratification by income, these averages may not reflect the true picture of the population purchases. According to the same statistics, in 2012, in a third of the country's households, consumer spending per capita did not exceed 150 manat per month. Only in 27.6 % of households the monthly cost of a family member exceeded 200 manat. - 08D-

This group includes Angola, Bahrain, Timor-Leste, Equatorial Guinea, Oman, and South Sudan, highlighting shared economic risks for these states.

In Azerbaijan, the government has increasingly relied on tax exemptions for imported goods as a tool to stabilize domestic market prices. The exemption from the 18% VAT on wheat imports, extended this year, exemplifies this approach. New measures have also been introduced, including tax relief on imports of electric vehicle chargers, while exemptions for high-cost medications are currently under discussion. Notably, defense imports continue to be free from taxes and customs duties.
