The State Statistics Committee does not agree with the propaganda nature of certain statistics
Today at the State Statistics Committee held a press conference on the results of the socio-economic situation of the country in 2012. Statistics recorded the improvement of socio-economic indicators in the previous year.
The SSC head Arif Veliyev disclosed all macroeconomic indicators, as well as data on the various sectors of the economy, which, in his opinion, showed an improvement in the welfare of the population.
Responding to a question from Turan, of the current opinions of society at the expense of a propagandist nature of some statistics (the number of jobs opened up, poverty, income of the population, low inflation, etc.) in favor of the current government, the chairman of the State Statistics Committee disagreed with this position. Referring to the statistics, the government says about the opening of the country 1.2 million jobs over the past 10 years. Defending the figures, Veliyev said that during this period the demographic growth of the population is approximately equal to that number. In addition, the opening of jobs does not mean full employment in them the necessary personnel, especially as the majority of new jobs are temporary. "The put into operation a new plant opened 100 jobs. But if you check, it turns out that actually there are 10 people," said Veliyev.
According to preliminary data of the State Committee on Statistics, in early 2013, 6% of the population lives below the poverty line. Moreover, this index is 3-manat revenue per day per capita. In Azerbaijan, poverty is measured only on one parameter: the monthly per capita income. However, the State Committee for Refugees and IDPs reveals the poverty of displaced persons, who allegedly is 15%. Arif Veliyev said that perhaps in that department are counted as poor.
The Head of the State Committee of Statistics does not agree with the alternative calculations of inflation, which found that the increase in consumer prices in the country was 9.9%, down 1.1%. "Is CER price measures, for example, in Gedabay area where potato is three times cheaper than in Baku or the Sabirabad area where melons are much cheaper than in Baku?" - wondered Veliyev.
The State Statistics Committee has not determined the 2012 level of the informal economy, which in 2011 was estimated to be 9%.
Concerning inflation forecasts for 2013, Veliyev said that according to his calculations, it will be 3-5%. -08 -
