Till end 2014 Azerenerji plans to complete construction of 5 small hydraulic power stations
Till the end of 2014 Azerenerji plans to complete construction of five small hydraulic power stations in Azerbaijani regions, said Azerenerji chairman Etibar Pirverdiyev
He said till the end of this year it is planned to complete construction of small hydraulic power stations in Balakan, Oguz, Ismayilli and Astara regions. “Construction of a small hydraulic power station with the capacity of 3 Mwt has been almost completed in Geychay region,” he explained.
He said that Azerenerji has 13 thermal power stations and 8 hydraulic power stations. Till now Azerenerji had only one small hydraulic power station Vayhir with the capacity of only 5 Mwt, which was built in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (NAR) in 2006. Azerenerji has intensified construction of small hydraulic power stations since 2012. It was connected with the government’s initiative to develop alternative power in the country, part of which is construction of small hydraulic power stations on the mountainous rivers. Although the State Agency for Alternative Energy was created in the country in August 2009, president has instructed the company in charge of generation of traditional type of power to build small hydraulic power stations.—0—
