In Turkey, 10 people died in a major road accident
ТАСС: 10 people were killed and 59 injured in a major accident in northwestern Turkey. According to TRT TV channel, seven vehicles collided on an intercity highway in Sakarya province.
As the head of the Turkish Ministry of Health Fahrettin Koca clarified, 59 people were injured as a result of the accident, 8 of them are in serious condition. “As a result of a traffic accident that occurred this morning at 04:36 on the Sakarya North Marmara highway in the Tekeler district, 10 people were killed on the spot, 59 people were injured, 8 of them in serious condition. 30 victims were taken to hospitals ambulances,” the minister wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
According to the governor, all the dead and injured are citizens of the republic. “A total of 10 hospitals are involved in Sakarya and neighboring regions,” he said. As Karadeniz added, it is preliminary believed that the cause of the accident was dense fog. “All our services, the police, the Emergency Management Department, doctors, and investigators are currently continuing to work on the spot. It is preliminary believed that some of the dead and injured are people who, after the first collision, went out onto the road and were hit by other cars,” he said He.
The head of the Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ali Erlikaya, also said that “according to preliminary data, 10 citizens of the republic were killed and 59 were injured.”
