Samsung abandons “smartphones”: the company will release “AI phones”
hi-tech.mail.ru: According to insider data, Korean Samsung is thinking about replacing the term “smartphone”. The company’s first “NON-smartphone” will be released in January 2024.
Here's the thing. Samsung will introduce the new Galaxy S24 line in January. If you believe the leaks, the new devices will receive many functions related to neural networks and artificial intelligence. It turns out that these devices will have so many AI functions that the devices are no longer called “smartphones.” Allegedly, the era of smart phones will soon pass, and in the future we will have “AI-backgrounds”.
This is exactly what future Samsung devices may be called. The company believes that the term “AI Phone” reflects the differences between the Samsung Galaxy S24 series and its competitors and highlights the rich AI capabilities of the devices.
With the addition of features that differentiate smartphones from competing products, a new name is needed to reflect its leadership position in the AI market. This forces us to abandon the traditional term “smartphone”
The Samsung Galaxy S24 line will be presented on January 17. In terms of design, the new generation will not differ much from its predecessors. Prices are expected to remain the same despite the new hardware and advanced options.
