Anadolu:  Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia have signed an agreement on the construction by Saudi company ACWA Power of a 1.5 GW wind farm in the Republic of Karakalpakstan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.

The agreement was signed during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Saudi Arabia,

This project will become the largest wind farm not only in the region, but also in the whole world. It is planned that the WPP capacity will be able to provide electricity to 1.65 million households and compensate for 2.4 million tons of carbon emissions per year.

A document was also signed expressing the intention of the Saudi side to invest $ 10 billion in the energy complex of Uzbekistan in the next 5 years.

In total, the parties signed three major agreements worth $ 12 billion.

To date, a number of energy projects are being implemented in Uzbekistan together with partners from Saudi Arabia.

During the visit, Mirziyoyev invited leading Saudi companies to take an active part in the privatization of commercial banks, large industrial facilities and infrastructure of Uzbekistan, Anadolu reports.—0—
