The European Union will provide Ukraine 11 billion euros
The EU is ready to provide financial assistance to Ukraine , said at a briefing in Brussels, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso. "Today, the Commission has identified a package of financial assistance to Ukraine, according to which it can get 11 billion euros over several years," he explained. Barroso said that these funds will be allocated from the state budget as the European Union and European financial institutions. The EU Energy Commissioner Guenther Oettinger said the EU is ready to help Ukraine pay its debts for Russian gas and reform the energy sector.
Total debt of Ukraine to Russia , according to the Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, for March 4 is $2 billion.
Earlier it was reported that Ukraine expects to receive from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) $ 3 billion as the first tranche of financial aid. The IMF delegation has arrived in Kiev; from 4 to 14 March , the Foundation representatives will evaluate the need to provide financial assistance to the Ukrainian economy.
According to Yatsenyuk, Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers is ready to fulfill all the conditions of the IMF for a loan. "The government will fulfill all the conditions of the Fund for the simple reason that we have no other choice ," said the Prime Minister. -02D-
