Will Azerbaijan send observers to the referendum in the Crimea?
Head of the International Committee of the Federation Council Mikhail Margelov supports participation of parliamentarians of the Union State in the mission of observers of the Interparliamentary Assembly (IPA) in the referendum on the status of Crimea, RIA Novosti reported.
While discussing the situation in Ukraine at the plenary session of the Federation Council on Wednesday senators suggested the use of the CIS area. Margelov suggested to invite the Belarus MPs for observer mission in the Crimea.
"The number of missions is not limited, we are interested in the referendum to be held according to the highest democratic standards," said Margelov.
The senator also said that the International Committee plans regular meetings in the extended format to discuss the situation in the republic. He also said that forming observer missions jointly with the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly to monitor the referendum on the status of Crimea on 30 March has already begun.
Turan was unable to get comments from the Milli Majlis on the possibility of the participation of Azerbaijani observers to monitor the referendum.
In turn, the deputy chairman of the CEC, Natig Mammadovm answering the question from Turan if there was an invitation to monitor the referendum, said: " I have no information on the receipt of such appeal."
Will the CEC send observers if such appeal comes? Asking this question Mammadov said it is difficult to say anything definitely now, without having such an appeal.
However , Mammadov said that “in general, the CEC of Azerbaijan cooperates with other Central Election Commissions.”-06D –
