U.S. Announces Year's Final Package Of Weapons, Equipment For Ukraine
The Biden Administration on Wednesday announced the year's final security assistance package for Ukraine valued at up to $250 million, TURAN's Washington correspondent reports.
The package includes air defense capabilities, artillery and anti-tank weapons, including 155mm and 105mm artillery ammunition, and over 15 million rounds of ammunition, as well as other equipment to help Ukraine in its continued fight to counter Russia’s unprovoked invasion, as the administration officials put it.
"Our assistance has been critical to supporting our Ukrainian partners as they defend their country and their freedom against Russia’s aggression," Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.
The latest round of assistance comes amid negotiations over Joe Biden’s supplemental request to Congress to continue critical funding for military and humanitarian aid for Ukraine. This is likely the last package until Congress authorizes additional funds, according to officials.
"It is imperative that Congress act swiftly, as soon as possible, to advance our national security interests by helping Ukraine defend itself and secure its future," Blinken said in his statement, adding that a coalition of more than 50 continues to provide critical support for Ukraine’s forces.
