12 parties have already been re-registered in the Ministry of Justice
Baku/07.09.23/Turan: Today the Ministry of Justice announced the registration of the Great Azerbaijan Party (Chairman Elshad Musayev) and the People's Party (Panah Huseyn).
Earlier, the following parties were re-registered in the Ministry of Justice: the Yeni Azerbaijan Party (Chairman of the party, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev), the White Party (Tural Abbasly), the Civic Solidarity Party (MP Sabir Rustamkhanli), the National Revival Movement Party (Faraj Guliyev), the National Front Party (MP Razi Nurullayev), The Ana Weten Party (Fazail Agamaly), the Law and Justice Party (Ali Insanov), the National Independence Party (Arzukhan Alizade) and the Umid Party (Igbad Agazade), the Democratic Party (Sardar Jalaloglu).
Thus, out of 27 parties that applied to the Ministry of Justice, 12 were re-registered.
At the same time, the leading opposition organizations – the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Musavat and Republican Alternative - have not yet been registered.
The re-registration of parties is a requirement of the new law on political parties, which came into force in January this year. According to its terms, a party can have state registration, which will submit to the Ministry of Justice the registration data of at least 5 thousand of its members.
The law has attracted criticism from the opposition. The Venice Commission in its conclusion pointed out that the law did not comply with the standards of the Council of Europe and recommended that the document be reworked. ---03B06---
