Air Astana Changes Route to Baku Because of Russian Missiles
Kazakhstan’s airline Air Astana has changed the flight route Almaty – Baku - Almaty because of the situation in the Caspian Sea. This was announced by the company’s press service on Astana TV.
In the near future it is expected to change routes from Almaty to Tbilisi and Istanbul. The aircraft will bypass the Caspian Sea.
Currently, Air Astana awaits approval from Russia, over whose territory these routes are located. Meanwhile, the airline announced that the duration of the flight Almaty - Baku will increase due to changes in the trajectory. Also increases fuel consumption, but the cost of the tickets is not affected, the company says.
As the manager Tlek Abdrahimov said, now the company's aircraft fly on a more northern route, near Aktau. Accordingly, the flight time has increased by 15 minutes to 3 hours 40 minutes.
Earlier, the European Aviation Safety Agency warned airlines that fly over the Caspian Sea that they may be soon sent a recommendation to change the route due to the launches of missiles from Navy ships of the Russian Federation. The first to respond to the route change was the Hong Kong airline. -02D-
