Traveling Abroad Not to Save Ali Hasanov from Criminal Prosecution
Baku / 01.09.20 / Turan: The Prosecutor General's Office commented on reports on the prosecution of former assistant to the President of Azerbaijan Ali Hasanov as a defendant in the case of abuse in the distribution of apartments for journalists by the Media Development Support Fund.
In messages on social networks, it was stated that the investigation established contacts with a hospital abroad, where Hasanov is being treated, in order to ascertain his condition to fly by plane.
As it turned out, Hasanov's condition allows him to fly by air.
Hasanov was informed that if he did not return to the country in the near future, he would be put on the international wanted list and he would be taken to the country in handcuffs.
The press service of the Prosecutor General's Office, when asked to comment on these messages, noted that on the fact of the commission by the officials of the Media Support Fund, the General Directorate for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General initiated a criminal case under Art. 179.4 (embezzlement on a large scale), 308.1 (abuse of office), 308-1.2 (not targeted use of state budget funds on a large scale) and 308-2.4 (illegal public procurement) of the Criminal Code.
Currently, in this criminal case, intensive and necessary investigative measures are being carried out to fully and comprehensively investigate all the circumstances and establish the circle of perpetrators.
Thus, although the Prosecutor General's Office did not unequivocally confirm that Hasanov was brought to justice, it also did not deny it. — 06D—
