Ali Karimli re-elected as chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan
Baku/24.06.23/Turan: Ali Karimli was re-elected to the post of chairman of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, at the VII (X) congress of this one of the country's leading opposition organizations, held on June 24 at .
The congress also formed a new seven-member control and revision commission of the party.
63 members of the Supreme Majlis of the party were also elected
The congress decided to submit the documents of the party to the Ministry of Justice for re-registration in accordance with the requirements of the new law on political parties.
The leader of the Popular Front, Abulfaz Elchibey, served as President of Azerbaijan in 1992-1993. In 1995, the Popular Front was transformed into a party and registered in the same year. The chairman of the PPFA since 2001 is Ali Kerimli. ---06B---

According to the Turkish newspaper Sabah, officials from the Istanbul Prosecutor's Office's Anti-Smuggling Unit have detained an Azerbaijani citizen with a large shipment of gold. The detention took place near the Vadi İstanbul shopping center in the Sarıyer district, where a taxi was stopped. During the search, 70 kg of gold was found. The Azerbaijani citizen in the vehicle claimed ownership of the cargo and also stated that he was a diplomat. The investigation by the prosecutor's office is ongoing, reports Sabah newspaper.
