Aliyev: BP will remain a strategic partner for 20 years
Azerbaijan is ready to implement the project TANAP (Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline) said Ilham Aliyev, opening June 4 20th oil and gas exhibition "Caspian Oil and Gas 2013" in Baku.
Regarding development of the field Shah Deniz, Aliyev said that the first phase of the project has been successfully implemented and the second phase of this major energy project is on turn. Aliyev stressed the strategic partnership with BP and expressed the opinion that this cooperation will continue for another 20 years. Projects implemented by Azerbaijan another 100 years will support the energy security of Europe, he said.
U.S. Ambassador Richard Morningstar read out a congratulatory message to U.S. President Barack Obama, who called Azerbaijan an important supplier of oil and gas to the world markets. "The oil resources of Azerbaijan will help diversify the economy, strengthen the rule of law and improve the lives of the people of Azerbaijan", said Obama. U.S. is a reliable partner of Azerbaijan and this will continue for years to come, the message says.
In a message to the exhibitors British Prime Minister David Cameron said that 2013 will be an important year for the "Southern Gas Corridor", and the key decisions about the final route of the pipeline to Europe. However, Cameron noted the need for further efforts to engage Central Asian gas in the "Southern Gas Corridor".
The exhibition, taking place June 4-7 at the Baku Expo Center, is attended by 386 companies from 28 countries. In the past year, the exhibition was attended by 304 companies from 35 countries. Compared to last year, the exhibition area increased 22% and the total number of items - 25%.
Among the VIP-guests of the exhibition and conference there are Georgian Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze, special envoy of the British Prime Minister, Charles Hendry, Secretary of Trade of Sweden Gunnar Oom, Secretary General of the Energy Charter Urban Rusnak, the Deputy Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources of Turkmenistan Annageldy Mammetyazov and others. -03C06-
