Baku/06.01.22/Turan: President Ilham Aliyev and his spouse visited Fatmeyi-Zahra Mosque in Yeni Guneshli residential area of Baku on January 6. The mosque was reopened after repair and reconstruction.
The area of the mosque has expanded considerably. Previously, 500-550 people could worship there simultaneously, but today there are 1800 people.
The mosque complex is decorated with two minarets 42 meters high and 4 meters in diameter, as well as a dome 25 meters high.
In 2010 the authorities wanted to demolish the mosque which had long remained unfinished. However, this decision was cancelled due to protests of believers.
At the same time, by order of the head of the state, the mosque was transferred to the balance of the Office of Caucasian Muslims. In 2019, the reconstruction of the mosque started.-05D06-
