Amnesty International recognizes Anar Mammadov as "prisoner of conscience"
International human rights organization Amnesty International has made a statement on the restruction of freedom of expression in Azerbaijan and harassment of civil society.

The paper analyzes the changes in the law "On the activities of NGOs", and assesses the arrest of Anar Mammadov, the head of the EMDS. Due to these events, Amnesty International announced Anar Mammadov "prisoner of conscience," and demanded his immediate release from his arrest.
The organization also called to stop prosecution of Bashir Suleymanli, executive director of the EMDF and Elnur Mammadov.
Earlier, the Amnesty International recognized 19 prisoners in Azerbaijan "prisoners of conscience." One of them, an activist of Staff "Kura" , Ilham Amiraslanov in early December, was released on parole.-16D04-
