Another 22 families return to Lachin
Baku/14.06.22/Turan: Today 22 more families, including 72 people, left for Lachin from the Gobu Park 3 residential complex in the Garadagh district of Baku to return to their native places.
The families were selected from among the internally displaced persons living mainly in Baku and Sumgait, as well as in temporary accommodation in the Absheron region. They will settle in houses that have been restored or rebuilt.
The ceremony of sending families to Lachin was attended by officials of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, the special representative office of the President to Lachin region and the executive power of this region.
By the end of the year, it is planned to return about 2,000 families of former internally displaced persons - about 10,000 people - to their homes in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons of Azerbaijan Fuad Huseynov said.
According to him, 700 families are planned to return to Lachin, and 400 families to the villages of Zabukh and Sus.
These settlements were liberated from the Armenian occupation in August last year in accord with the terms of the Trilateral Statement of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and the Russian Federation dated November 10, 2020, signed following the 44-day second Karabakh war.
Earlier, on May 27, the first 20 families returned to the city of Lachin, including 97 people. -06B-
