Armenia aggravates the situation on the border despite the call of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs
Baku / 19.07.19 / Turan: The shelling of the Azerbaijani positions on the border with Armenia and the wounding of the border guard Jeyhun Bayramov completely runs counter to the call of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs for peace, stated the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Leyla Abdullayeva, commenting on the incident on the border yesterday.
She drew attention to the fact that the Armenian side fired the positions of Azerbaijan several hours after the statement of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan that that for the concrete outcome of the negotiations to resolve the conflict it is important to reach a solution that meets the interests of the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples.
Moreover, the Azerbaijani diplomat said that the incident did not occur on the line of contact between the troops of Armenia and Azerbaijan, but on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
"How, then, can you believe the words of the Armenian leader on peace and conflict resolution?! The incident is completely contrary to the well-known call of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs to prepare peoples for peace," said Abdullayeva.
The leadership of Armenia, finally, should understand that the main question, which meets the interests of both the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples, is to ensure sustainable peace and well-being in the region, she said.
"The only way to achieve this is the elimination of the factor of military occupation, the liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani lands and the return of the displaced people who were expelled from these territories to their homes. Only after this, sustainable peace, development and progress meeting the interests of the two peoples will be ensured in the region," the official spokesperson for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry summarized. -06D--
