Armenia does not cooperate to clarify the fate of the missing – Ali Nagiyev
Armenia, under various pretexts, refuses to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the search for mass graves of Azerbaijanis killed during the First Karabakh War and clarifying the fate of the missing, the head of the State Security Service (SSS) and Chairman of the State Commission for Prisoners, Missing Persons, Hostages Ali Nagiyev stated on November 14 at a meeting with the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Pia Kauman.
Nagiyev noted that after the First Karabakh War, about 4 thousand Azerbaijanis are missing, and the Armenian side refuses to provide information about their fates. According to him, although the liberation of the lands from occupation made it easier to search for mass graves, most of these places still could not be found.
Azerbaijan spares no effort to establish lasting peace and stability in the region, is committed to the principles of good neighborliness and peaceful coexistence, comprehensively guarantees the safe residence of Karabakh Armenians and is ready to normalize relations with Armenia and sign a peace treaty, Nagiyev said. He also pointed out the inadmissibility of arming Armenia by some countries, which contributes to the aggravation of the situation and the resumption of war.
The President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, Kauma, in turn, stated that her organization can provide the necessary support for strengthening trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and expressed her position on the future security of the region. Other issues of mutual interest were also discussed at the meeting.
