Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan discussed electricity exports to Europe
Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan are discussing the possibility of transferring electricity to Europe.
Azerbaijani Economy Minister Mikail Jabbarov wrote about this on his Twitter account. The discussions took place on November 14 at an event entitled "Prospects for the export of electricity from Central Asia through Azerbaijan", held in Baku.
"The trilateral meeting of the ministers responsible for the economy and energy of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan was important in terms of diversification of trade and economic relations. We discussed the development of partnership between our countries with an emphasis on renewable energy and the possibility of electricity transmission from Central Asian countries," Jabbarov wrote.
Recall that by 2030, the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan has set a goal to increase the share of investments in renewable energy in the total energy balance of the country to 30%. To this end, it is planned to produce about 1,500 MW from renewable energy sources. To date, electricity produced from renewable energy sources has accounted for approximately 7% of total production.
In addition, Azerbaijan has signed numerous agreements with a number of well-known companies around the world on the production and transit of renewable energy.
