Armenia`s complaint against Azerbaijan to the International Court of Justice is unfounded and absurd
Baku/30.09.23/Turan: The next lawsuits filed by Armenia to the International Court of Justice of the United Nations on September 29 in order to appoint interim measures in a court case on the application of the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination against Azerbaijan are completely unfounded and absurd, stated the official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Ayhan Hajizade.
"The fact that Armenia does not renounce its claims to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan, puts forward new lawsuits with the aim of inciting hatred against Azerbaijanis, ignoring the previous decision of the International Court of Justice on the mentioned case, is absolutely unacceptable," Hajizade said.
Armenia is abusing the UN International Court of Justice "in order to promote its insidious policy," as was the case with the UN Security Council, he added.
"In 2023, Armenia is applying to this court for the third time. Let me remind you that of Armenia's three petitions filed in January, two were rejected, and one was granted in a limited manner. Armenia's petitions filed in May were unanimously rejected by the court in July," Hajizade stressed.
The Azerbaijani side will present its position to the court, which will reflect full answers to Armenia's unfounded claims, the diplomat concluded.
In February 2022, the International Court of Justice of the United Nations ordered Azerbaijan to take "all measures depending on it to ensure the unhindered movement of people, vehicles and cargo along the Lachin corridor." At the same time, the International Court of Justice did not satisfy Armenia's demand to recognize that the action of Azerbaijani eco-activists on the Khankendi-Lachin road was "organized by the Azerbaijani government" and "Azerbaijan prevents the supply of natural gas and other utilities (for example, electricity and Internet services".)
In July, the International Court of Justice of the United Nations did not grant Armenia's petition to recognize the illegal establishment of the Lachyn border checkpoint by Azerbaijan on the conditional border of the two countries.
The International Court of Justice of the United Nations recognized the sovereign right of Azerbaijan to establish a border checkpoint on its territory. ---06B---
