Arrested Four Generals of MNS
On 25 December evening, pro-government media, quoting informed sources, reported on the arrest of General Elchin Guliyev. Until October of this year, he headed the Anti-Terrorist Center of the Ministry of National Security.
After Eldar Mahmudov’s dismissal from the Minister post, Guliyev was dismissed and sent to work as a teacher at the MNS Academy.
There are no official reports of Guliyev's arrest by the Prosecutor General's Office, which is investigating the crime facts in the MNS. Our attempts to get comments from the MNS press service also failed.
The reasons for the arrest and the accusations against the General are not clear. However, a few days earlier his deputy Colonel Ilgar Aliyev hanged himself in jail. His name several times appeared in the case of the detained journalist Parviz Hashimli.
Recall that the number of arrested MNS officers so far has exceeded 20 people, including four Generals. They are charged with kidnapping, extortion, blackmail, illegal wiretapping, racketeering and others. -02D-
