Azerbaijan and Albania intend to expand energy cooperation /UPDATED/
Baku/14.04.22/Turan: There is potential for the development of trade and economic relations between Azerbaijan and Albania. This was stated by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at a meeting with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama.
"Azerbaijan has become an exporter of natural gas to Europe, and Albania has always supported this initiative," Aliyev said. I believe that today the significance of the Southern Gas Corridor, in particular, the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, is seen more clearly,” the President of Azerbaijan further said.
In his opinion, there are opportunities for wider cooperation with Albania in the energy sector.
“This includes natural gas, transit, supplies, electricity, and this can really form an important part of our bilateral agenda. I am sure that the issues that are the topic of negotiations today will lead to a new development,” the head of Azerbaijan said further.
Aliyev also pointed to the potential for developing communications in the field of mutual investment, tourism and other areas.
Albania during the OSCE chairmanship, and now as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, always supports Azerbaijan, its "historical rights" and will continue to do so, Rama said in turn.
“We applaud your extremely exemplary efforts towards peace and long-term cooperation with neighboring Armenia.
At the same time, fortunately, we have a strong bridge in the face of a state like Turkey,” Rama added.
He invited Aliyev to pay an official visit to Albania.—06B-
