Afgan Sadygov, head of 'Azel.TV' website, arrested in Georgia with the purpose of extradition to Azerbaijan, has gone on a dry hunger strike since 2 February. This was reported to Turan by his wife Sevinj Sadygova after a telephone conversation with her husband on 2 February.

Although the health condition of human rights defender Anar Mammadli, who is being held in Baku pre-trial detention centre-1, has further deteriorated, he is not receiving adequate medical care. The State Security Service (SSS) and the Interior Ministry of Azerbaijan (IMA) have reported the liquidation of a radical extremist group in Gusar region. It is reported that 8 members of the group were killed while offering armed resistance, and 6 were arrested.
